| Characteristics of Educational Content | Smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity, and diabetes are risk factors for many cancers and are attributable to lifestyle habits. In addition, cancers caused by infections such as Helicobacter pylori and hepatitis viruses can greatly reduce the risk of carcinogenesis with effective therapeutic agents. This course is unique in that it fosters the ability to analyze the characteristics of carcinogenesis-preventable cancers based on clinical information and multi-omics data, and to conduct research on carcinogenesis mechanisms and the development of preventive methods. Another unique feature of this course is that students can attend lectures by researchers conducting large-scale cohort studies (in collaboration with the Graduate School of Advanced Preventive Medicine). | ||||||
| Guidance System | In this course, experts in genetic analysis and personalized medicine research at Kanazawa University’s Graduate School of Advanced Preventive Medicine and Kanazawa University, as well as Cancer Pro graduates, will provide on-the-job training through actual ongoing projects. In addition, e-learning and web conferencing seminars will be used to provide a wide range of efficient instruction. Standardization of teaching methods will be discussed by the Academic Affairs Committee. | ||||||
| Career Path of Graduates | Personnel trained in this course will possess world-class knowledge, skills, and research capabilities as cancer prevention experts, and will be able to convey correct knowledge to the public. In the future, they will be able to contribute as staff members of medical education institutions and as leaders of cancer prevention research and medical care at regional core hospitals such as base hospitals for cancer treatment. | ||||||

| Acceptance Goals | The goal is to train at least one cancer prevention expert at each of the five cancer base hospitals in Ishikawa Prefecture, with a target of training five experts at each of the five hospitals over the next five years. Based on the number of applicants to the graduate school in the past and the admission needs survey, about 3 applicants are expected each year, so the target number of applicants is set at 15. | ||||||
